CUMBERNAULD and Kilsyth SNP MSP Jamie Hepburn has backed the decision to not give Scots living abroad a vote in the independence referendum.

The topic has dominated local and national headlines over recent weeks after David Cameron waded into the debate and last week at Holyrood, Mr Hepurn added his voice to the discussions.

“I recognise the arguments against,” said Jamie,

“It’s not without merit and I understand people’s frustrations. However, when push comes to shove it’s an exercise in self determination and it has to be the people that live here that exercise that right of self determination.”

Mr Hepburn added that he wants the voting age lowered to allow 16 and 17 year-olds to vote.
