New nursery could lead to a jobs boost

A NEW nursery is set to create more than 21 jobs over the next two years.

Patsy McLaren, owner of Kidstore Childcare in Kilsyth, says the nursery has already taken on six staff ahead of its September launch, with more jobs to follow.

Patsy said: "The number of staff members we have goes in line with how quickly the nursery fills up to capacity.

"As the nursery grows and develops we'll obviously need to build up our team. I would love to say that'll be over the next few weeks, but that's not realistic. I would like to think that in two years we will be at that level of staffing."

Patsy hopes to create 21 full-time equivalent positions meaning that, since some of the roles will be part-time, the number of workers actually taken on could be significantly higher.

She said: "There isn't another private nursery in Kilsyth so we have had lots of applications from people in the town with great qualifications.

"That is absolutely what we are aiming for.

"The head and the deputy head are coming from a nursery in Edinburgh which won a Best In Britain award in 2008.

"We want this nursery to be an award-winning nursery.

"When you have children and grandchildren they are the most precious thing in the world, so to hand them over to someone takes a lot.

"It's comforting for people to know the standards are high."
