AGING Greenfaulds High School could soon be replaced by an all-new campus.

On Thursday June 14, North Lanarkshire Council applied to the Scottish Futures Trust for funding towards a £30 million school complex, also featuring a replacement for the Gaelic Education Centre.

The trust, run by the Scottish Government, invited each of Scotland’s 32 local authorities to put forward one application for a school building project and North Lanarkshire Council’s choice was to replace Greenfaulds High.

NLC education convener Jim Logue said: “Greenfaulds is a large school and this investment will benefit over 1500 pupils. It’s really positive news for the people of Cumbernauld and we are really hopeful that the bid will be successful. This bid will complement the council’s ambitions to provide modernised educational and community facilities throughout North Lanarkshire.”
