Online jobs fair brings candidates and employers together

A VIRTUAL jobs fair will seek to link up good employers with ideal candiates across the UK.

Jobstoday, a subsidiary of News and Chronicle publishers Johnston Press PLC, has launched the Virtual Careers Fair, an online platform which offers employers a virtual “stand” showcasing their vacancies and allowing direct communication with potential applicants via such methods as video chat. The fair will run from February 18 until March 1.

Firms already signed up to participate include IKEA, The Hesley Group and Victoria’s Secret.

Jobseekers who successfully complete a pre-registration process to ensure only motivated applicants attend the fair. Registered participants will get essential updates to help them prepare and all job seekers who register before February 18 will be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win an iPad Mini.

Joanne Harwood, group category manager at Johnston Press, said: “We previously ran two very successful Virtual Careers Fairs last year. This time we’re running a national fair to include all sectors and businesses so that we are able to offer something for everyone. The fair will help great employers connect to local job seekers who are really committed to finding a new job and vice versa. We wish everyone the best of luck.”

Job seekers interested in the fair are encouraged to sign up for free today at www.virtualcareerevent.com/jtuk to ensure they are guaranteed entry from the February 18.
