‘Pothole has left me out of pocket’

A KILDRUM man has claimed he has been left out of pocket after his car was written off as a result of hitting a pothole on a busy Cumbernauld road.

Nicholas Lamb, who lives in Campsie View, learned this week from his insurer that the 2003 Daihatsu Charade is no longer in a state of repair after his wife Nicole hit a pothole on Forest Road, Abronhill, on December 29.

The insurer says the car value is lower than the cost of repairing the vehicle and they therefore made the decision to write it off.

But now Nicholas is left with just over £800 once the insurance excess is removed to replace his car - which is something he can’t afford to do.

To make matters worse, Nicholas has been told by North Lanarkshire Council that he has no legal right to claim them because he has already processed an insurance claim.

Nicholas’ story is the latest from the road which had a huge pothole which wasn’t repaired during the festive period.

Motorists who hit the pothole damaged their cars, and the News and Chronicle reported recently one woman who faced £1000 bill to fix the damage her car endured whilst taxi driver Graham Warnock, from Seafar, had to replace his tyres.

For full story, see this week’s Cumbernauld News or Kilsyth Chronicle dated Wednesday, February 6.
