Volunteers make a clean sweep of Cumbernauld Glen

COMMUNITY spirit is alive and well thanks to these civic-minded volunteers who gathered together to improve a local beauty spot.

Friends of Cumbernauld Glen were delighted to welcome so many nature lovers to their latest litter pick, where a whopping 40 bags of rubbish were uplifted.

The group’s chairwoman Karen Morrison said: “We were quite overwhelmed by that number of volunteers who turned up to help. The area looked so much better.

“We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along. And we’d like to say a special ‘thank you’ to 3rd Cumbernauld cubs and scouts and their parents.

“Plus the guys from Neighbourhood Networks Airdrie/Coatbridge for their sterling efforts in achieving such a good result,” she added.
