Warning over Spanish will ‘scam’

AN ABRONHILL woman is warning readers to be aware of a Spanish based scam after she almost fell for it.

Margaret Spellacy (61), of Whitelees Road, received a letter by post claiming to be from a firm of Spanish lawyers in Mallorca.

Margaret said the letter had a Spanish postmark, and her full name and address.

The letter claims to be from a Spanish lawyer, saying a client has left her a large sum of money.

She said; “What got me was my name on the letter. I will be honest with you, I was taken in for a couple of minutes.

“I have never had a letter like this before but I have spoke to others who have been contacted with similar scams.

Their letters, however, referred to the Bank of Nigeria. I just don’t want anyone to be fooled by this.”
