Coalburn Brass Band family stages its first-ever virtual Christmas concert

The Covid-19 pandemic has put a stop to the band’s usually active schedule.

However, during isolation, its members have remained busy from the safety of their homes by attending virtual rehearsals and recording music.

The Christmas period is normally a particularly busy period for all of the bands, with concerts and caroling.

Since they were unable to do this in person this year thay have decided to host an online concert which will feature music from the Silver, Intermediate and Bronze bands, as well as the Coalburn Percussion Academy.

Each piece of music has been worked on and recorded from the safety of their own homes.

The programme will include a variety of festive favorites, and the Bronze Band’s performance from the Scottish Virtual Youth Brass Band Festival.

As Covid-19 has had a damaging effect on the mental health of many people, the bands have decided to donate the proceeds from the concert to the Lanarkshire Association For Mental Health (LAMH), a mental health charity that provides community based support services throughout the region.

A spokesperson for the band said: “We are extremely excited about our first ever virtual concert.

“It has been a great project for the bands to work towards and we’re pleased to be able to showcase some of the music we have been working on in our online rehearsals.

“We are also delighted to be able to donate the proceeds of the concert to LAMH, a charity which is providing essential mental health support services during this difficult time.”
