“I think it’s my favourite part of the house,”said Mr Pirret, “as a place where I can relax, cut off, and enjoy reading the paper.”
He adds: “In one way I will hate leaving this house, which has been wonderful, but getting it ready for sale got me fixing the thousand and one things that needed doing.”
In fact when the sales spec from agent Slater Hogg describes his home as “spacious and immaculate” it is exactly right - and at offers over £195,000 potential buyers are being offered the chance of acquiring something genuinely special at a competitive price.
The gardens (enclosed at the rear) are magnificent, and have recently come into their own as the perfect place for a barbecue – and that kitchen-patio arrangement is ideal.
Mr Pirret says: “I think this place could suit a variety of potential buyers, as one the one hand it’s in an ideal area for bringing up a family and on the other it’s a great base for a business as it’s equidistant from Glasgow and Edinburgh – great communications, but in a beautiful semi-rural setting.
Given the high level of attention given to the property, and the many improvements Mr Pirret has carried out, there’s a risk some important detail could be left out when trying to give an accurate impression of the house.
But one of the most attractive features is certainly the wooden flooring throughout the ground floor.
But when Slater Hogg suggest that early viewing is strongly recommended they are absolutely correct – everything about this home, from the large lounge to the open plan dining room, large lounge, and bedrooms, really needs to be seen first hand.
