HISTORIAN Willie Chalmers has released a new picture book charting many a significant moment in Kilsyth’s illustrious past.
Willie is well-known for his insightful pictorial accounts recording the changing face of the town and this latest offering does not disappoint.
The book is A5 size and in a landscape format. It contains more than 100 black and white images, dating from the early part of the 20th century up until the 1980s.
Each picture is accompanied by a comprehensive caption, explaining the scene and its significance.
Willie said: “It’s really easy for people to take in and it’s got more narrative than some of the others. People like to have a flick through the pictures.
“I’ve said it before but this will allow young people from Kilsyth to get to know the history of their surroundings and see where they have come from.”
The book is priced at £6.50 and is available from both R. A. Cant and Son and G. Miller and Son, both on Main Street.
