A HAIRDRESSER in Cumbernauld is proving to be a cut above the rest after making it through to the last 16 of a prestigious competition.

Lyndsay Nixon (26), from Abronhill, is through to the final rounds of the Scottish section of the Wella Trend Vision 2011 competition and could make it to the UK finals.

Lyndsay said: “It’s brilliant to even be involved in the competition but getting through to this stage is great.

“It’s been a fantastic experience so far and obviously it’s great exposure for the salon too.”

Lyndsay, a hairdresser and stylist at Scragg Hair in Cumbernauld Village, could see her styles used by Wella over the next year if she wins the competition. The next test is a catwalk display at the Crown Plaza in Glasgow on Tuesday, May 17.

She added: “I’ve got a beautiful model to work with, Chloe Sherlock (18), from Cumbernauld, and we’ll be going with some strong blonde colours. I’m looking forward to it.”
