Even with the biggest rose tinted glasses in the world, Cumbernauld town centre is not good looking. But, as my kids would say, build a bridge and get over it.
I’m thoroughly fed up of websites and organisations throwing a carbuncle our way, or giving us the ugly town tag, see this week’s pages 8/9.
We’re so much more than concrete. For how long will the architectural fashion fads of the fifties be allowed to tarnish the good name of the Nauld?
Yes, we would all love a brand new town centre, but with umpteen owners and a dual carriageway running through the middle, there is no easy solution. Creating a wish list is simple; finding an answer is not. I just wish people would remember the good in the town, and not just the bad and the ugly.
