NORTH Lanarkshire’s new top cop was born and bred in the area he’s set to serve and wants to target the violent crime and anti-social behaviour blighting Scotland.
That’s the message from Acting Chief Superintendent, Nelson Telfer (49), who has 22 years service in the force, a law degree from Glasgow University and a wealth of experience gained from working throughout Central Scotland.
Supt Telfer will lead operations in N Division, which includes Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, and he says he is looking to continue the good work of his friend, and previous Superintendent, Graham Cairns by cracking down on the major issues while fostering closer relationships with community groups.
“Graham has done a really good job here,” he said.
“My initial aim is to carry on that good work but to also put my own stamp on it.
“I have a real passion for this area. Most of my family come from North Lanarkshire and I have a lot of friends here too. I want to make sure that what we do here is right for the community across North Lanarkshire.”
