A man who recently died after falling from an offshore platform in the North Sea was from Cumbernauld.
On Friday, police named the 62-year-old man, who fell from the Harding Platform into the sea on Thursday, as George Bartlett.
Multiple local sources have since confirmed George grew up in Abronhill’s Oak Road, where he lived with his parents and brother Billy.
George’s family released the following statement: “George was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sorely missed by us all. He has worked offshore for many years but no matter how far away he was he would always be in touch. We are a close-knit family and we now ask that we are given time to come to terms with our loss.”
Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
