THE PUPILS of Condorrat Primary School in Cumbernauld have been doing their bit for Mother Nature, by planting trees with help from the company Diageo.
The trees were donated by the Woodland Trust, who had received them as part of the Queen’s Jubilee, and Diageo were tasked with finding local groups which would benefit from them.
The school’s eco-co-ordinator, Elspeth McCoull, said:“David White, representative from Diageo, came out to help the children after the trees were provided,
“The kids were happy to have someone from a company outside of the school to come in and teach them in this way.”
She added: “We have more trees to plant that were donated by the woodland trust, so we will be starting to plant them soon.”
The trees were planted in the nursery garden of the school, and Elspeth is eager to get the younger children involved.
She said: “The nursery children will become involved in the gardening after the Easter holidays. They are all really looking forward to it.”
