Local MP Gregg McClymont and MSP Mark Griffin visited Condorrat Post Office this week to discuss the impact of Royal Mail privatisation on local post offices with former postmistress Evelyn Wales.

Evelyn expressed her concern about the impact Royal Mail privatisation will have on the Condorrat Post Office.

“I’m worried that separating Royal Mail and Post Office will in the long run be bad news for communities like Condorrat”, she said.

Gregg said: “The Royal Mail pays Post Office for counter services through something called the Inter Business Agreement – my great fear is that at the first opportunity a privatized Royal Mail will do to cut costs and increase executive bonuses is renegotiate this contract to the detriment of Post Office.
