Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Jamie Hepburn has welcomed news that Transport Scotland has committed to road improvements in the Castlecary area.
A public consultation gave residents two scenarios to consider, and most wanted all traffic and introducing traffic calming measures through the area.
Mr Hepburn previously wrote to all residents of the Castlecary area to seek their views, an found that of the residents who responded 92% said that they have concerns about road safety in the Castlecary area,.
A similar number – 88% prefer – to have the junction reopened and traffic calming measures introduced. He says he has learned from Transport Scotland that they estimate that the Castlecary junction will be open and all works complete by autumn of this year.
The MSP added:“I am glad to hear that works are progressing to improve road safety in the Castlecary area, as I am aware from numerous people who have contacted my office that many residents have very real concerns about road safety in the area.”
