PUB giant J D Wetherspoon has confirmed it is moving into Cumbernauld.

PUB giant J D Wetherspoon has confirmed it is moving into Cumbernauld.

The chain, which boasts over 800 pubs throughout the UK, has taken over the former Mortimers Bar in Cumbernauld Shopping Centre and was recently given the green light by licensing authorities.

Wetherspoon were unable to confirm the date the new pub would open, but did state it would invest £1.1 million on redeveloping the property and will create more than 40 full and part-time jobs.

Their chief executive, John Hutson, said: “We believe that our pub will be welcomed by people in Cumbernauld and be an asset to the town.”
