School choirs put on a night to remember

ST MUNGO’S Church in Cumbernauld was alive with the sound of music on Friday.

Six choirs from primary schools in Cumbernauld and Lenzie battled it out in an electrifying evening that helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the News and Chronicle’s Guide Dogs for the Blind appeal.

The choirs - Condorrat, Cumbernauld, Holy Cross and Whitelees from the Cumbernauld area plus Lenzie Moss and Millersneuk of Lenzie - were each challenged to perform the well-known “Glee” song, “Don’t Stop Believing” plus a tune of their own choosing.

And what an evening they served up to a near capacity audience at St Mungo’s, and what a difficult choice they left the panel of judges - Chris Judge of Voice Jam Ltd, up and coming star TJ Bilham and Jack Shennan, editor of the Cumbernauld News and Kilsyth Chronicle.
