Services to remember

Remembrance Sunday.
Remembrance Sunday.

Services will be held across North Lanarkshire to mark the fallen of this area on Remembrance Sunday.

North Lanarkshire Provost Jim Robertson and the Lord Lieutenant’s representatives will be attending two main services marking Remembrance Sunday on November 10.

The first will be taking place at the War Memorial, Monkscourt Avenue, Airdrie at 11am with the laying of wreaths on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, the council and the people of North Lanarkshire.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day people traditionally remember all those who gave their lives for the peace and freedom.

People across the nation pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave Service men and women.

The second main service will take place at the Cenotaph, Duchess of Hamilton Park, Motherwell.

This service will be at 3pm with other local events being held at towns and villages across North Lanarkshire.

Provost Jim Robertson said: “I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.”
