RESIDENTS and businesses in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area were severely hit by last week’s storms, which left a trail of havoc.

The area was lashed by gales that at times reached more than 100 mph.

Some people - such as villagers in Banton – were left without power for more than 48 hours as workmen battled to reconnect the supply in the teeth of further bad weather.

For our special report, and for dramatic photographs of the aftermath of the gales, don’t miss Wednesday’s News and Chronicle.
