A burst water main has brough chaos to thousands of homes in Cumbernauld this morning.

Households in Abronhill, Kildrum and Carbrain are currently without water supplies, after the main burst in Forest Road.

This has led rush hour traffic to make a lengthy diversion out of Abronhill

We can however confirm that engineers from Scottish Water are now on the scene.

Their spokesperson confirmed: “A burst water main has been located in Forest Road. Customers may experience a loss of water supply, low pressure and discoloured water.

“We are working to restore supplies to affected customers as quickly as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.’’
