Woodland plan concerns locals in Cumbernauld

WORK to restore woodlands in Cumbernauld has worried local residents.

Trees have been chopped down close to the Craiglinn roundabout at Auchinkilns over the last few weeks concerning motorists and residents.

But the work is being carried out by North Lanarkshire Council to improve the area.

Louise Wallace, who lives nearby, said: “This area is heavy populated by conifer trees and oak trees, not to mention many deer, badgers, birds and other wildlife.

“This area of trees protect this wildlife, give them a relatively safe haven within the urban life that encroached them.

“It also gives the local residents a natural sound proofing from the motorway, and pollution that may come from this.”
