Club holds playdowns for seniors and gents

THE playdowns for the Senior and Gents League titles were played at Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Stadium last week.
Results were:

Seniors – Val Harkins 17, Tom Anderson 11. Semi-finals – Val Harkins 19, Eric Wightman 14; Jim McConnachie 22, J. R. Wilson 10. Final – John Murphy, Robert Christie, Tom Turnbull and Jim McConnachie 21; Jack Ritchie, James Stewart, A
lex Donaldson and Val Harkins 8.

Gents – W. Sommerville 16, R. Reid 15. Semi-finals – G. Wilson 25, I. Kettles 9; K. Brooks 17, W. Sommerville 13. Final – Frank Hillis, Hugh McAvoy, Billy McGhee and Gary Wilson 20; Gary Brooks, William McNair, Alan Barrie and Kris Brooks, 9.

The winning finalists will represent the club in the Scottish National Fours ties for season 2008/09.

The club will be open for play (members and non-members welcome) during May, June and August from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club wish all the members a successful outdoor season and look forward to their return in September. New members will be made most welcome.

George Todd and Tom Turnbull hold the Glasgow and District League Seniors Cup, which Cumbernauld recently won, beating Blantyre in the final at the West of Scotland Indoor Bowling Club.
