The first round was a decidedly even affair although his opponent Jordan Withers did enough to sway the judges to award him the round.
However, Johnny showed heart in the second as he weathered a series of blows to then hammer his opponent with a flurry of clean shots.
The title rested on the outcome of the third and final round with both fighters going flat out.
However, Johnny was explosive from the bell and rained a succession of strikes to take the title as British champion for the 48kg level.
