Cumbernauld Colts’ under-20s side were left in the dark on Friday night when their Lowland League Cup Final against East Kilbride was called off due to a floodlight failure.

It was a frustrating evening for Colts who were hoping to mark the club’s first season at Lowland League level by taking a trophy back to Broadwood.

But a lights failure at Benburb Juniors’ New Tinto Park meant the game had to be called off and will have to be rescheduled, probably for Friday, April 26.

Meanwhile Colts’ senior team will be back in action on Saturday after a free weekend when they travel to face Edinburgh University.

Colts sit fifth in the table while Edinburgh University are eighth.

The Cumbernauld side are also in action next Wednesday, March 23, when they take on Gretna 2008 at Broadwood, kick-off 7.45pm.
