CUMBERNAULD United left it late to secure a league point at Ladywell Stadium, Maybole, on Saturday.

Two goals down with 15 minutes to go, and not at their best, the Cumbernauld side upped their game to score a couple of vital goals and then almost grab the three points.

Despite the previous week’s wet weather the pitch was in good condition, but the United side – without Jim Steele, Paul Stewart, Nico Petrucci and Danny Boyle – struggled to impose themselves on their opponents and, until late in the game, barely tested the home goalkeeper Scott Johnstone.
