Cumbernauld United earned a hard fought victory at Abbey Park, Kilwinning, on Saturday against the local Rangers.

The three league points gained, and Shotts Bon Accord’s defeat at Troon, saw United rise to second top place in the Super League first division, their highest position ever in the league, also their fifth successive win in this company must surely be another first.

Chris Zok, free from suspension, returned to the Cumbernauld team.

A place on the bench was found for another familiar face, Nico Petrucci, coming back to the squad.
