Largs Thistle 5 Cumbernauld United 1

Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League, First Division

CUMBERNAULD United suffered a heavy defeat at Barrfields Park on Saturday, but the margin of victory somewhat flattered the home team.

In the first half the sides were evenly matched but just after the interval, for the second week in succession, United had a man red-carded and had to battle with ten men for the remainder of the game.

This was Largs’ first victory on their recently laid artificial surface, the cost of which was borne by local man and Euromillions winner Colin Weir, who, incidentally was at the match supporting Thistle.
