Irvine Meadow Invitation Tournament

CUMBERNAULD United produced a disappointing disply at Meadow Park, Irvine, on Saturday, in the Irvine Meadow Invitation Tournament.

After a promising start when they matched the Ayrshire team for half an hour, the Cumbernauld boys lost three goals in the last ten minutes of the first period. Although there was considerable improvement in the second half, Troon ran out worthy winners to reach the final of the competition.

United were missing three of their close-season signings in Paul McLaughlin, Paul Stewart and Mark Steven due to holidays, work and injury and undoubtedly these players would have made a difference, but overall the Cumbernauld team could have played much better.
