Cumbernauld United 4 Renfrew 1

Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division

Three excellent goals in the first 20 minutes of this league contest set the seal on a very comfortable victory for United, who were never really stretched by a struggling Renfrew side.

This sixth successfive win maintains United’s position in the league and sets them up nicely for their next two fixtures – a home tie against Vale of Clyde in the West of Scotland Cup and an away game at Maybole in the Scottish Junior Cup, second round.

United’s deadly duo strikeforce of Paul McLaughlin and Chris Zok shared the first three goals and Nico Petrucci opened his season’s account in the first minute of the second half.

This Saturday Cumbernauld entertain Vale of Clyde in the first round of the West of Scotland Cup at Guy’s Meadow. Although two divisions below United, Vale have only lost one league game so far this season, so will have to be treated with care. Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
