CUMBERNAULD United were eliminated from the West of Scotland Cup on Saturday at Lochburn Park when Central District League side Maryhill won a penalty kick shoot out after a goalless but eventful 90 minutes.

The Glasgow outfit, top of their league, gave the fancied United a hard match throughout. When the Cumbernauld team were reduced to ten men early in the second half it looked ominous but the visitors gave as good as they got and had enough chances in the latter stages of the match to have prevented the decisive spot kicks.

United return to league business this Saturday when they travel to meet Largs Thistle. The Original Supporters bus leaves Guy’s Meadow at 11.40am and the Town Centre at 11.45am.
