Gents go through to finals

CUMBERNAULD Indoor Bowling Club recently had several teams competing in the Glasgow Bowling Association competitions and with the ladies single and triples teams already through to the final it was the turn of the gents teams.

Again there was success with the gents team of J. Love, C. Whyte, T. Anderson winning very well and the seniors team of I. Ferguson, E. Wightman, H. Gibson keeping up the good tradition and also progressing to the finals.

The finals will be played on Sunday, April 8 at the West of Scotland Stadium. All of the club wish them well.

Our National four-bowl pairs team of Tom Simpson and Hugh McAvoy have progressed to the semi-finals of the competition which will be played this Saturday, March 31 at the Coatbridge Stadium. This is a great achievement as internationalists and professionals will also have been in the competition.

Last Friday two of the ladies competitions were decided when Joyce Miller played very well to defeat Pat Casey in the ladies singles.

The rinks were also played with team of A. Kinloch, R. Graham, S. Wilson, A. Cairnie, pulling away towards the end to win against N. McEwan, E. Rodgers, M. Hume, R. McIntyre.

The ladies AGM was held yesterday when business for the year was concluded and preparations for the new season started.
