Road Club Cumbernauld and Kilsyth members enjoyed an eventful and leg burning weekend’s cycling with some big miles done in Perthshire and Speyside.

The Sunday Club run took nine members north east to Dollar/Glendevon, through Gleneagles to Crieff before returning via Loch Earn and Callendar. In total a journey of 114 miles and a super big day in the saddle!

Twelve other members took part in the ‘3 Pistes Challenge’ a sportive race that started in Pitlochry and finished in Aviemore. This ride took in all three climbs to the main ski centres Glenshee, The Lecht and Cairngorm for a whopping 9000ft of climbing over a total of 102 miles.

We’re used to climbing hills in the Kilsyth and Cumbernauld area but with gradients up to 25 per cent the mountain roads in the Cairngorms are a different proposition!

It’s safe to say that RCCK members slept soundly on Sunday evening!

The next club run is on Sunday, June 8 leaving Broadwood Stadium at 8.30am. Non-members welcome provided they contact the club firstly by email. The address is ride@rcck.co.uk.
