Clinton narrowly takes the Shield

Sean Clinton has won this season’s Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club Wednesday Shield.

After six rounds of competition, there was only one shot separating Sean and second placed Scott McRobbie.

Saturday, July 26 was a glorious day for the final club championship qualifier and there were some amazing scores throughout the three divisions. In Division One, Alan J. Brown had a personal best gross 67 and his neat round also equalled the best gross of the season by current club champion Hugh Nelson.

In Division Two, Alan Brown took top slot by shooting a net 63 while Raymond McKenna scored a net 63 to win Division Three.

Qualifying divisional scores: Division One – Alan J. Brown, 67 (2) 65; Stephen P. Kelly, 73 (6) 63; Robert Irvine, 71 (2) 69.

Division Two – Alan Brown, 77 (13) 64; William Allan, 83 (18) 65; Scott Wilson, 77 (12) 65.

Division Three – Raymond McKenna, 82 (19) 63; Tony Armour, 85 (21) 64; John Irvine, 87 (22) 65.

The draws for the first round qualifiers have been posted on the locker room notice board. Ties to be played by August 9.
