Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club’s ladies team were in action again this week in the Inter Club League when they had to travel to play the ladies from the Stirling Club.

From the start Cumbernauld raced into a lead which they were never in any danger of giving up. Towards the end the local team did pull back a few shots but by this time the game was won, with Cumbernauld running out winners by 91 shots to 66.

A very good victory which leaves the local team sitting second top of the league with only one defeat.

Cumbernauld skips: A. Cairnie won 28-9; I. McKinnon lost 14-24; L. Fleming won 24-17; M. Millerick won 25-16.

At the stadium the Senior Gents were also in action in their league with their opponents Coatbridge. This game was a bit more even at the start with the lead changing hands. However, as the game progressed Coatbridge began to take control of two of the games and Cumbernauld the other two.

The match was going to be won by the team who could win by the most points and unfortunately that was Coatbridge. The eventual score being Cumbernauld 52 shots, Coatbridge 61.

Cumbernauld skips: J. Love won 22-13; T. Turnbull lost 8-18; J. B. Wilson won 18-10; J. Jamieson lost 4-20.

The club is open throughout the week and is available to non members to come up and have a game. Beginners are most welcome and there are shoes and bowls available for use at no extra charge.
