Aspiring local handball player Megan Quinn was able to represent her country recently after getting some much-needed funding.

The talented 16-year-old from Kilbowie Road in Carbrain, who is a pupil at Our Lady’s High School, is a member of the Great Britain team which was recently in Esbjerg, Denmark.

Megan, who has been playing handball for the past four or five years and is also a member of the Tryst womens’ team, after being introduced to the game by her friends, said: “My dream is to represent Great Britain in the Olympic Games but the sport of hand ball gets very little funding. We have been invited to play in a tournament in Esbjerg, Denmark in July but have to fund this trip ourselves.”
