Medal haul for local swimmers

LAST weekend saw Cumbernauld swim team host their open Age Group Meet at the Tryst.

The nine to 12 year-olds competed on Saturday, whilst Sunday was the 13 and over age group. There were many fantastic swims and personal bests.

The following swimmers bagged medals: Duncan McKinney gold 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, silver 50m butterfly; Adam Dempsey gold 200m individual medley, silver 100m butterfly, bronze 200m backstroke.

Morgan Dillon gold 200m backstroke, silver 200m individual medley; Lucy McGhee gold 200m individual medley, silver 200m backstroke, silver 50m butterfly, bronze 50m freestyle.

Kris Frobisher silver 200m backstroke, silver 200m individual medley, bronze 50m butterfly; Chantelle McQuade gold 200m individual medley, 50m butterfly, silver 200m breaststroke; Tegan Kerr silver 50m freestyle.

Daniel Fisher gold 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle, silver 200m backstroke; Zuhayr Siddiqui gold 100m butteryfly, 50m butterfly; Lynn Macarthur silver 200m individual medley; Leanna Marshall gold 200m breaststroke, silver 50m freestyle.

Katey Hillhouse bronze 200m breaststroke; Robyn Leslie silver 50m butterfly, bronze 100m butterfly; Callum Baxter silver 50m butterfly; Christopher Muir gold 100m butterfly, silver 50m freestyle; Niamh Allison bronze 100m butterfly.

Cumbernauld nine to 12 years mixed ‘A’ relay team won gold in freestyle relay and the 13 and over also won gold in their relay. Well done swimmers.

Christopher Muir and Jennifer Ward also took part in the East District open water championships at Lochgelly. This was the first time both had taken part. Christopher competed in the 2K and Jennifer competed in the 3K. Both had very successful swims.
