A NEW date has been set for one of Cumbernauld’s most popular events on the calendar which sees more than 1000 people pounding the pavements in the town.

The seventh Cumbernauld 10K which is partly sponsored by this newspaper will take place on Sunday, September 22 - and for the first time, will boast a full entertainments package at its finale, at Broadwood Stadium.

Scheduled a fortnight later than usual, the event will also boast the the 3k race for S1 to S4 pupils and 1k runs for P5, 6 and 7 children.

The North Lanarkshire Council-run event has grown steadily in popularity over the last few years and draws participants from all over the authority and beyond.
