THIS was not Rangers’ best performance of the season by any means, but they did stage a great second-half comeback to the take the tie to a penalty shoot-out after going behind by two goals.

It took drastic action by manager Eric Sinclair to change things though and a better performance right from the off will be needed in this weekend’s Scottish Cup game if they are to win through.

The Ardrossan pitch drew some unfavourable comments from the Kilsyth contingent but in reality it was perfectly playable, if rather bumpy, and the opening exchanges were played at a good pace with both sides showing good touches.
