THERE was no competitive rugby in Cumbernauld last weekend, but Cumbernauld Rugby Club managed to do something they’ve been threatening for a while – raised a team of ‘veterans’, thanks mainly to the efforts of long time club member Findlay Laird (although Findlay would be the first to acknowledge he had help from others), and they’ve called themselves ‘The Auld Bores’.

Well, on Saturday, all chuffed with their new strips, generously sponsored by KNN Services, they headed off to Hillfoots Rugby Club, Tillicoultry to take on their opposite number - The Cast Tups.
