Young Curtis shows promise

THE weather and playing conditions could not have been better for the third round of the Championship qualifier and Stroke Play Championship at Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club.

Alan Brown kept up his recent good form with an excellent scratch 67 in Division 1.

Alan Stewart won Division 2 with a net 63 and Ian Carstairs Division 3 with a net 67.

Winner of the Unique Stroke Play Championship was Thomas Morrison with 74, 71, 71.

Handicap Category was won by Alan Stewart with net scores of 66, 67, 63.

Curtis Egan, one of our promising juniors, was the runaway winner of the Wednesday Shield with net scores of 68, 68, 72, 64.

Curtis has also shown good form in various county events during his school break.

Saturday, August 6, top three divisional results: Club championship (3) – 1, Alan J. Brown 67 (2) 65; 2, Allan May 75 (9) 66; 3, Chris Kinnear 74 (7) 67.

Division 2 – 1, Alan Stewart 80 (17) 63; 2, Robin Kennedy 86 (18) 68; 3 Walter Gourlay 79 (11) 68.

Division 3 – 1, Ian Carstairs 88 (21) 67; 2, Daniel Comrie 89 (21) 68; 3, Stephen Wallace 93 (24) 69.

The course will be closed this Saturday (August 13), as we are hosting the Country Stoke Play Championship.
