The Port - a gallery of love
The Port Gallery in Kilsyth is currently enjoying a booming business spin-off from the crowd-pulling effect of the Jack Vettriano Exhibition which is attracting record attendance at the Glasgow Museum and Art Gallery.
The Auchinstarry Marina art house has arranged a display of 30 prints and 100 small prints to respond to the keen interest shown by so many visitors keen to have one of these much sought-after items framed - especially if they have just visited his exhibition.
Gallery owner Dot Clelland said: “Most people interested in art recognise ‘Love’ as a recurring theme in his paintings, and this could well be in people’s minds as they are shopping with Mother's Day coming up.
“The exhibition profile is having a positive spin-off here in Kilsyth as people coming in instantly recognise his work and this creates a keen interest which means we have been busy framing a wide range of Vettriano prints.
“In addition to the works of Vettriano, we also deal with a lot of local artistes and have increased our range of artistic items to feature a versatile range of gifts including Sterling Silver Jewellery, home-made glass ornaments/coasters/plaques and Yankee and Shearer candle-heads.
“We have introduced a range of Scottish soaps.”
She added: “We only opened the gallery last August - it’s been an enjoyable interesting and busy few months.”
