CUMBERNAULD duo Scarlet Pearl describe themselves as a "new-age ABBA" and they are certainly proving themselves to be super troopers in their bid for stardom.
Cousins Nicky Moore (pictured right) and Leona Skimming have been on a mission to get into showbiz from an early age - singing in the school choir together and going along to dance classes.
"We've been singing together since we were about three or four and later we were in school shows and things and Youth Ballet of Scotland together. We've worked really hard and a couple of years ago we went down to London," said Nicky.
"It took us two and a half years of hard work trying to break in to the business ," she added.
It finally paid off when the 24-year-olds, after attending various auditions, were introduced to producer Paul Bell and signed to a London agency. The have since made a single and album and a release is imminent.
Leona, who still lives in Greenfaulds, and Nicky, who is also from Greenfaulds but has moved out of the area, are very excited at the prospect of their dreams finally coming true.
"This is what we've always wanted," said Nicky.
As well as seeing themselves as an Abba for the new age, Scarlet Pearl say they also draw inspiration from KT Tunstall, Girls Aloud and Massive Attack.
You can see them play at Campus, in Glasgow tomorrow (June 1) and at Buffalo Joe's in Hope Street on June 8.
