Musician Chris Ashton, well known locally as the front man of Fluorescent Hearts, has embarked on some solo projects.

On Tuesday, January 12, Chris will appear at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, supporting Chloe Marie as part of the famed Glasgow venue’s New Year’s Resolution events. He recently released his debut solo single, Piece of Your Love.

Chris shed some light on the status of Fluorescent Hearts: “We were on and off writing and recording material for almost a year but with everyone’s time schedules it was becoming hard to nail down dates for release and to get everyone to commit. We all sort of hit that age where our personal lives became more demanding. We haven’t split up, just more of an unspoken ‘hiatus’.

“My solo endeavour is another expression of what my position in FH has been over the years. I wrote the majority of the material we performed and I was the singer.

“So for me, this is another avenue for me to be explore that part of my creativity. There are also some members of FH performing as part of my live band. It’s odd being able to record drums, bass, guitars and vocals and decide ‘this is the finished product’.

“For those who are fans of FH. I have a single coming out this Sunday at 8PM called ‘Battle Of The Wounded’ that echoes everything people loved about the band. Anyone will be able to download the single absolutely free from my Soundcloud page.”
