Big Ted’s anniversary party

Review : Big Teds Party - Twa Corbies - May 6

BIG TED’S PARTY were playing a gig to celebrate 25 years together, and this was very much looked forward to by those who have followed the boys.

There were people in the bar from 6.30 waiting for the doors to open at 8pm. As always there was an easy, friendly atmosphere as the Teds began a storming set of classic blues, glam rock, even a nod to punk.

Iain McKenzie is a faultless frontman, cracking jokes between songs or getting into a wee bit of banter with the audience. High points of the show were the Undertones classic - Teenage Kicks, which had most of the audience on their feet, and T-Rex groover Get It On saw Alec and Alan on guitars kick things up a gear and had the whole place rocking.

The backbone of any band is the rhythm section, and George on bass and Len at the drums are rock solid. After three encores it was all happy music fans leaving the Twa Corbies .

I’d like to add my congratulations on their 25 years together with the same line-up.
