Encountering great arts

Cumbernauld Library is delighted to be having sessions from Millie Gray and Cumbernauld’s own Studio Arts Forum. Millie Gray is an author and professional storyteller who has the honour of being the ‘Arts Champion for Older People in Scotland’. Her latest novel ‘Eighteen Couper Street’ follows the lives of the Campbell family in Leith in the early 20th Century. Millie has a love of Scottish culture and language and as a ‘people watcher’ she has a flair for recounting family tales in humorous way.

Studio Arts Forum are bringing ‘A Poacher’s Pot’ of poetry to Cumbernauld. Eight poetry lovers will share some of their favourite poems. Among the performers will be Harry Glass who has been on ‘The Culture Show’ on BBC2. This event will provide an entertaining evening to both lovers of poetry old and new and is in Cumbernauld Library on Thursday, October 18, at 7pm. This Friday, October 19, Kilsyth Library is having a fire safety themed Focus on Families Day. There will be a talk by a Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Firefighter with a visit from a fire appliance.
