Luke MacDonald (8) from Condorrat played the son of Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt in the adaptation of the Irvine Welsh novel. He got the part after signing with Cumbernauld’s very own Alana Heron agency.

Joanne plays the potential love interest of one James McAvoy who just happens to be one of young Luke’s favourite stars after his star turn as Professor Xavier in X Men.

The Baird Memorial pupil got an autograph from James which he added the words ‘Professor X’ after his signature.

Proud mum Stephanie said: “Luke had an amazing time and he described the whole experience as ‘awesome’ . He particularly loved the catering bus and the fact that he had his own trailer.

“He loves singing, acting and dancing and we thought this would be just a bit of fun for him but we didn’t expect him t be working with big stars like Joanne and James.

“Both myself and my husband Colin are very proud of him and this will be an extremely special chapter in our live and a wonderful memory.’’
