Modelling contract at stake for classy glasses wearers

THE DEADLINE is looming for the annual “Spectacle Wearer of the Year” competition, run by Specsavers.

With a modelling contract to win plus a holiday abroad and a makeover with TV celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, there’s a lot at stake.

The competition is open to men and women aged 16 and over, and runs until July 30 in all Specsaver outlets, including at Cumbernauld.

Antonia McNeil, Cumbernauld store director, said: “We see so many people in the store who look amazing in their glasses.

“The competition gives us the opportunity to shout about the talent right here on our doorstep, who wear their specs with pride – and plenty of style.”

The competition was launched by actress and Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon, pictured, who credits her glasses’ coloured lenses with helping her dyslexia. She added: “It’s amazing how glasses can change your look. I love wearing mine.”
