Natasha takes theScots beauty crown

A Cumbernauld beauty queen who’s raised a small fortune for charity has taken the top title at a glitzy awards night in Glasgow.

Natasha Keddie, 17, raised nearly £800 in just over two months for the Dean Puplett Appeal against neuroblastoma as part of her preparation for the Miss Teen Crown and Glory Scotland event.

She was delighted to be given the winner’s crown at what was the first time the contest has had a Scotland-specific title.

Natasha also won the Director’s Choice and Miss Charity awards for the commitment she has given to her bid to raise funds for the charity appeal

She is all the more delighted because although it’s not her first beauty contest success she entered near the closing date.

The final of the pageant was staged in Sloan’s ballroom in Glasgow, and was reckoned a great inaugural occasion for a competition already well-established down south.

And because she won the Scottish crown Natasha will now go on to contest the UK title in the event’s national final later this year.

The Crown and Glory national beauty pageant was launched to provide “a fun and friendly experience which encourages working within the community, charity work, and making friends for life with ladies from all over the UK.”

Natasha says the charity and community elements of the event chimed with work she has already been doing for the Dean Puplett Appeal.

And she hopes to help raise the charity’s profile with more local fundraising efforts in future.
